Tune in for great wheelchair basketball! We aim to support the incredible athletes and human beings which this tournament serves in all that we do as an organization, and I think this is a tremendous opportunity to further our mission.
The games ran smoothly and allowed athletes to display athleticism at a level not seen by most who sat in the stands. Beyond that, the young men and their coaches displayed an incredible level of gratitude and humility towards the organization and its supporters for giving the chance to play in Wichita.
If you missed the games and want to watch footage, be sure to click on the WEBCASTS button, which is displayed in the right corner of any page on our site. The defending champions finished as runners-up.
The celebrity game score was a whopping ! Kansas Governor Sam Brownback visited the event and interacted with players from The University of Texas-Arlington, who stuck around until later in the evening.
The players convinced the Governor to try playing in a chair, and got him to give the tip-off for the University of Texas-Arlington demonstration scrimmage. The players also discussed the possibility of launching a Kansas collegiate wheelchair basketball program with Governor Brownback.

ACSAA is a tremendous organization with a worthy mission -- furthering competitive athletic opportunities for disabled students at the college level.
All college students, able-bodied or disabled, should have the option to participate in sports. ACSAA makes this dream a reality for so many disabled students.
The live auction, led by all-star auctioneer Charlie Moon, featured a beautiful weekend getaway to a Country Club Plaza Condo and shopping spree in Kansas City, as well as a David Yurman jewelry set.
We know that college wheelchair athletes will benefit greatly from your remarkable kindness and generosity. For event photos and other information, visit our Facebook page at www.
Along with promoting public health and wellness, equal opportunity for those with disabilities has been one of my top priorities throughout my years in Congress. Travel costs can be an exhaustive expense for our programs, which generally operate on a very limited budget.
ACSAA aims to aid and support their endeavors wherever possible. Many of our players in the 1st Annual ACSAA Wheelchair Basketball Bash College Division explained that the major reason they were able to pursue their college degree was due to a college wheelchair basketball scholarship. ACSAA and its leaders understand that some programs struggle to provide the amount of scholarships desired to build a strong program, and we seek to support them as much as we are able in gaining talented athletes and bright students for their teams and universities.
The organization has planned extensive fundraising efforts and will continue to seek national and corporate funding. Thank you for your support!
We marketed our organization to a perfect audience of college student-athletes and coaches, and we planned for a bright future. In June, leaders chose to begin fundraising for this landmark venture. The participating teams continually face budget frustrations due to limited financial support from their respective universities.
Despite speculation over the feasibility of attaining this monumental goal, ACSAA and its incredibly kind, strong, and generous donors delivered. The University of Alabama, The University of Texas-Arlington, Edinboro University, and Southwest Minnesota State University will participate in the first intercollegiate wheelchair basketball competition outside of a college campus as they journey to Wichita, Kansas.
And yet, this is only the tip of the iceberg. ACSAA will continue to grow, serve, and impress in and in the years to come. We hope that you all are ready to join us!
Thank you for your phenomenal support thus far. We look forward to a promising future ahead. Slated as a two day weekend spectacular, the event comes to Wichita, Kansas on January 31 and February 1, The event features our typical community division for able-bodied students on February 1, and as is ACSAA tradition, play will be followed by our fantastic dinner and auction.
But all of those wonderful traditions will follow something unprecedented this year. Meridian Avenue, Wichita, KS The community division will immediately follow at 10 AM. Community games will also be played at Wichita Collegiate, going until PM.

Our organization is ecstatic to have the support of such an amazing man! Senator Dole will not be present at the event, but his statement of support will be released at a later date. The petition has nearly signatures from over 20 US states as of December The purpose of the organization is to promote, support, organize, and create adapted athletic opportunities for physically challenged college students.
ACSAA wants to see collegiate adapted athletics have more coverage in the mainstream sports media. We have created this petition as a call to action for ESPN to provide coverage to adapted athletics as an emerging arena of college sports. We need as many voices as we can to show the interest, desire and passion for collegiate adapted athletics!
Please sign the petition and let your voice be heard! From 12 noon to PM at Wichita Collegiate School on February 1, , 12 local celebrities will go up against each other to demonstrate both the difficulty and the fun of playing wheelchair basketball.
This will be a sight to see, and a highlight of the event.
The page is fairly active, with multiple posts each week, and posts becoming more frequent as we grow closer to the event. A new chair will undoubtedly bring new insights and abilities to advance the betterment of ACSAA, and I am excited to find our next chair.
Egan agreed to serve as chair until an appropriate nomination is made and approved by vote of the Board. Interested parties should contact us at acsaaorg gmail. We hope to have a new chair in place by July
